Society of Technowizards- a fantasy/satire by J.Rose

Greetings Book Bots!

I am the author of "Society of Technowizards." This book is my first adventure with self-publishing. I have previously published a non-fiction book under a different pen name as well as short stories the traditional way. I received an advance on the non-fiction book but I would have made more money working at a fast food restaurant-wouldn't have enjoyed the work as much, though.

I started writing from pure spite. I was walking to a college English class back in the days before personal computers when I overheard one of my professors telling a young Vietnam veteran to forget about publishing anything if he hadn't already published in his teens. I swore to myself right then that I would wait till the age of 50 and get something published just to prove that man wrong. I can hold a grudge for a very long time.

People told me I would never get a book published. But I proved that any fool can write a book and publish it with a traditional publisher.I signed a contract that  would make any good lawyer's head explode-but-it can happen! I don't care what your relatives say!

Anyway, enough about me. Here's some stuff about my book:

"The Society of Technowizards" is a fantasy satire. It takes place in a dystopian 24th Century Southern States Government which has seceded from the North American Union. The story concerns the adventures of a young man looking for his place in this world. His efforts are somewhat hampered by his best friend, a twenty-five foot dragon by the name of Tiamat. Tiamat is a genetically engineered talking dragon who has retired from working at circuses, renaissance fairs, and occasionally playing the devil at Christian theme parks.

Elliot, the protagonist of my story, journeys to The Society of Technowizards- the last bastion of technology in a war-torn southern republic. Elliot lives in a largely illiterate society, and hopes he will fit in with a better-educated group of people-especially educated people working to improve the world. The group of scientists working there are trying to reverse engineer lost technology-including computers, eyeglasses, and automobiles. Unfortunately, they are also making some entertaining mischief by creating zombie bureaucrats and investigating psychic phenomena.

 Hope you enjoy the book.
